Great Application

I would give it a 5 star rating if it had support for phone rotation.

The perfect tool!

Now we can scout locations AND storyboard at the same time! On the same device! Wonderful!

No iOS 5 support with this update?

This is lame for nearly 30 bugs!

Greatest App!

This is the best app Ive come across in my work as a director. Ive been using it on every film Ive made ever since Artemis has become available. And in conjunction with the Ipro lens kit this amazing tool has become even more indispensable - making wide angle and long lens shots possible on your iPhone. Its great for communicating with your DoP, your production designer, your producer... you name it. And the great thing about it: You always have it with you - all lenses, all camera systems, even all your location pictures (containing vital metadata), neatly labelled and stored in individual folders. It saves me a lot of time in pre-production, is always in my hand on the set and last but not least: Its great fun to use. Miguel Alexandre - Film Director, Screenwriter, Cinematographer

Lensmatcher keeps crashing

I like the app and do use it frequently. However I keep getting update messages with the lovely mustache. Although I have updated all the lenses, I can update the same thing over and over again because I keep getting the same message. Please make sure that once updated the update reminder doesnt show again. Its a bit Irritation. Im an Iphone 5 user. Thank You Rg Please fix. Thank you

since Update

since last Update only Crashes

Temporal fix for non US Users

Hi, this fixes the crash of the new version from May 17th. General > Date & Time > turn 24-Hour Time off General > Language & Region > iPhone Language > English General > Language & Region > Region > United States General > Language & Region > Calendar > Gregorian Then start Artemis and change back to your preferred settings. Worked for me on iphone4 and iPad mini3.

Pricey but...

Useful app for quick easy visualization. Works great with Hitchcock. Could go for a few sutble interface improvements. Perhaps the ability to use the tap focus feature of the 3G S camera. Wish the on board camera was a higher res for the longer lense simulation, but thats nit their fault. Still, I dont think many will go for the $30 price tag.

So smart

You guys are great. I am shooting a short with a red and this app is going to save me huge. I will let you know on the flip side how it went. Now you need a shot list app that you can check off:)

Great value esp on my iPhone 4 now

Considering the cost of actual manual and video directors viewfinders this is great value and works. Its nice to be able take a pic with the metadata and send it for approval (say on tech survey or through the viewfinder!). The autofocus is great add. I really want this to work on my iPad2 AND to use WiFi for Artemis Remote!

Good for an iPhone Viewfinder

I retract my last review - I hadnt thought the app through clearly enough. It does what it can with the iPhone. For lenses longer than the phones camera it is decent (there is of course a loss of image quality when zoomed in for long lenses, which is unavoidable). For lenses wider than the camera, it adds a lens distortion effect, and then blacks out areas of the screen where the phone cant pick up what the lens it is simulating would. The problem with this is that it isnt useful for framing, as you are seeing only a piece of the image (and with some lenses a very small piece). And the phone camera isnt very wide - I couldnt go as wide as 24mm with ultra primes on a Digital 35mm without losing some of the frame. In my mind not useful enough to be worth the money, but well-made for what it is.

Update

Just updated my Artemis and now it shuts down and I dont get to use it

Strong App needs some improvments

Great for scouting and sees alot of industry use. Needs iphone5 resolution support, screen rotation functionality, and the ability to snap the image with the volume button like the native iphone camera app.
